Christ is Risen! Orthodox Christian Children's Book Reviews

Every year at Pascha and Nativity, we try to add to our library of Orthodox Christian Children's Books. Despite my children being solid readers, they still really enjoy quality Orthodox Christian Children's Books, especially those from New Rome Press.

What I love about many of the books from New Rome Press is that many of them are translations from Orthodox Christians that live in Greece. This means that the books are written by Orthodox Christians that have been steeped in an Orthodox Christian culture their whole lives are sharing what they can with us American converts out of love. And I am truly grateful!

I Found My Saint and Beneath the Magnificent Dome are two of the latest releases for children by New Rome Press. I do not want to give the content of these stories away, but I will say they were worth every penny! Rather than lives of the saints for children or fiction, which is more commonly found in children's books, these stories are both based on real events that will inspire children to be bold and courageous in their faith. I Found My Saint was written by the Sacred Monastery of Saint Irakleidios and translated by New Rome Press. Beneath the Magnificent Dome was written by Anna Iakovou and translated y Dimitri Kagaras. As with many stories published by New Rome Press, length-wise the stories are not quite chapter books, but neither are they short picture books. While I read I Found My Saint in one go (though it was not easy to be honest, but it was Bright Monday so...), Beneath the Magnificent Dome would take most families two to three days.

I can't recommend these books highly enough! These were amazing and I hope my kids will want to read them each year during Bright Week!
